  • Date November 20, 2025

The planning committee for the 60th anniversary of the University of Professional Studies, Accra has paid a courtesy call on the Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ahead of the university’s anniversary health walk.

UPSA marks its diamond jubilee this year, celebrating six decades of academic excellence, institutional growth and national service.

The anniversary features a year-long calendar of activities designed to highlight the university’s impact and strengthen stakeholder partnerships.

The delegation, led by Global Alumni President Francis Dadzie, met Dr James Klutse Avedzi on Thursday, 18 November 2025 to brief him on preparations for the celebration and to deepen collaboration between the two institutions.

Mr Dadzie commended Dr Avedzi for his dedication to public service and continuous support to UPSA.
“ We are grateful for your commitment and contribution to the country and the UPSA community.”

Dr Avedzi, an alumnus of UPSA, welcomed the team and praised the university’s recent expansion in academic programmes and infrastructure.

He noted that the institution’s progress reflected a broader push to strengthen professional education in Ghana.

“ UPSA has done  a lot and trained a lot of prominent people in this country and I am proud to be a product of the institution”.

He also donated ten thousand Ghana cedis towards the anniversary activities.

Several SEC staff who are alumni of UPSA joined the engagement. They included James Peprah Yeboah of the Project Management Unit, Karina Baba Zakaria of the Investigation Unit, Mathew Dordoye of the Risk Management Unit and Ebenezer Baffoe, Head of Internal Audit.

The UPSA delegation also comprised Dr Leticia Achampong, Dr Akushika Andoh and Mr Kwabena Agyekum.

The 60th anniversary health walk is scheduled for Saturday, 22 November 2025.
