UPSA@60 Planning Committee engages SEC Director-General ahead of its Anniversary Health Walk

A delegation from the UPSA@60 Anniversary Planning Committee has paid a courtesy call on the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Dr James Klutse Avedzi, ahead of the University’s 60th Anniversary Health-A-Thon.
The visit formed part of UPSA’s stakeholder engagement efforts to rally support for its Diamond Jubilee celebrations and to strengthen collaboration with key national institutions.
The delegation, led by Global Alumni President, Mr Francis Dadzie, met Dr Avedzi on Thursday, November 18, 2025, to brief him on preparations towards the anniversary and invite SEC’s participation in the upcoming Health-A-Thon. The six-kilometre walk, on the theme “Wellness in Motion – Six Decades of Transformative Education”, is scheduled for Saturday, November 22, 2025, and will start from the UPSA campus.

Welcoming the team, Dr Avedzi, an alumnus of UPSA, commended the University for its steady expansion in academic programmes and infrastructure, noting that its growth reflects a broader national push to strengthen professional education.
“UPSA has done a lot and trained many prominent people in this country, and I am proud to be a product of the institution,” he said.
He further applauded the decision to use the anniversary to promote wellness among staff, students, alumni and partners, and announced a donation of GH¢10,000 in support of the Health-A-Thon.
On his part, Mr Dadzie expressed appreciation to Dr Avedzi for his longstanding support to UPSA and his dedicated service to the nation.

“We are grateful for your commitment and contribution to the country and the UPSA community,” he said, adding that the anniversary provides an opportunity to celebrate alumni who are making a difference in public service and industry.
The UPSA delegation also comprised Dr Leticia Achampong, Dr Akushika Andoh and Mr Kwabena Agyekum, who used the occasion to explore further areas of collaboration between the University and SEC beyond the anniversary celebrations.
