Upsa Global Alumni to Honour Founder

  • Date September 13, 2023

The Global Alumni of the University of Professional Studies seeks to honor Opoku Ampomah with a section of the school’s library.

This is in commemoration of the ninety fifth (95th) birthday of the school’s founder, which is August of this year to be called the “Founder’s Corner”.

This was made known when a member of the alumni, Thomas Asare, the Controller and Director -Division of Financial and administrative management at UNICEF paid a courtesy call on the Global Alumni President.

The two gentlemen held discussions on a wide range of important issues aimed at improving the learning experience of students and how members of the alumni can contribute to the development of the University.

The Alumni President, Mr Francis Dadzie speaking at the meeting said the association is will create a section in the library called the “Founder’s Corner” where alumni will donate books to help teaching and learning in the University.

He added that there will be an electronic crystal of the picture of the founder which will be lighted at the section.

“We want to immortalize him so that the current generation when they come there they will know about the founder for his vision for producing all of us”.

This initiative Mr Dadzie emphasized will encourage the next generation to know about the founder, his contribution towards the development of the University and his vision for producing “all of us”.

Mr Asare on his part praised the management of the school for the successes so far especially in the area of infrastructural development.

He was of the opinion that the library should have books that would equip students and make them relevant in the working environment.

Mr Asare encouraged the library to get Integrated reporting and Sustainability reporting books to empower the students rather than limiting ourselves to PowerPoint slides.

Mr. Elijah Mensah, Librarian of UPSA in explaining how the library work said the library is for every individual who wants to acquire knowledge  and not a particular group of people.

As a result, the library keeps both old and new books on the shelves because  “every reader has a different priority of knowledge they are looking for” he added.

Present at the meeting was Mr Ebenezer Aseidu, Global Alumni Administrator, Amoah Sarfo Kwarteng, SRC President and Amadi Aikins, GRASAG President.
