Prof. Helen Kwansema Arkorful

Prof. (Mrs.) Helen Kwansema Arkorful holds a Doctor of Business Administration Degree from SMC University (SMCU), an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) in Entrepreneurial Management from the University of Ghana Business School, Legon, a Graduate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) U.K, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Public Administration from Ghana Institute of Public Administration (GIMPA). She is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, U.K.

Prof. (Mrs.) Arkorful started her working life from industry where she worked at middle level Management for fourteen (14) years, a period within which she built her leadership potentials. In her supervisory capacity, she learnt to build co-operative work team that promoted a productive environment. 

Prof. (Mrs.) Arkorful transited to academia in 2002 where she joined the Faculty of Management Studies. She began her academic career as a lecturer teaching management course on the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) and Institute of Chartered Accountant, Ghana (ICAG) professional programmes.  She became the first Head of the Department of Business Administration Programme from 2005 to 2009, and was instrumental in founding the Association of Business Administration Students (ABAS), and the Business Administration Welfare Association (BAWA) which focused on meeting students’ and staff social needs. She also served as the Coordinator for the Diploma in Business Studies Programme under the Business Development Unit from 2003- 2005. From 2009 to 2012, Prof. Arkorful served as the first Dean for International Affairs. Under her stewardship she endeavored to strengthen the relationship between the University and ECOWAS Community whose nationals constituted the bulk of the international students through the organization of the first ever International Students’ Day celebration.

Currently Prof. (Mrs.) Arkorful is the Dean of the Evening School. With her people management skills and approachable persona, Prof. (Mrs.) Arkorful has worked harmoniously with Faculty Deans and officers to ensure seamless running of the evening programmes.

Prof. (Mrs.) Arkorful’s contribution to the growth and development of the university is evident both in academic and non-academic activities. Academically, she has taught a number of management courses and supervised both graduate and under graduate students’ dissertations. Additionally, she has and still serves on a number of statutory and non-statutory committees in the University and is also patron to a number of students’ associations. She has since 2017 been the Chairperson of the Chaplaincy Committee and has been instrumental in creating a harmonic co-existence between the various religious bodies on campus. She is currently the founding President of the University’s women Association known as the Women’s Association of The University of Professional Studies (WAUPSA).

As a community spirited person, Prof. (Mrs.) Arkorful since 2007 to date has served as a resource person for Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) as a panel member for the accreditation of Management and Secretarial programmes. She is also a reviewer for reputable international journals such the Journal of Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies, Journal of strategy and Management, and Management Research Review, all within the Emerald group. Prof. (Mrs.) Arkorful also serves as an external assessor for School of Graduate Studies, University of Cape Coast. 

Outside the University campus, Helen is a Patron and Missions Director of El-Shiloh Foundation International, a faith-based NGO involved in community services such as medical outreach, youth counselling and women empowerment through skills and vocational training.  She is also a member of the Board of Trustees to DadaKwame Charity Foundation also a Faith-based NGO that champions the cause of orphans and widows.  She is currently the Chairperson to the Tema West Municipal Assembly JHS ‘A’ school situated in Baatsona. 

Prof. (Mrs.) Arkorful has presented papers at a number of conferences and published in reputable referred journals. Prof. (Mrs.) Arkorful awaiting response to her article entitle “determinants of digital entrepreneurship in developing countries” currently under review with the Journal of Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies. 

Helen Kwansema Arkorful is a Christian who exposes discipline, respect, service and empathy as her life time values. She has on many occasions preached at the Sunday services of the Professional Christian Union (PCU) and other campus Christian ministries.

She loves reading, sharing the word of God, and enjoys experimental cooking.
