The much-awaited one-storey model police station will be a collaborative endeavor with support from the Ghana Police Service.
The decision to establish this much-needed facility stems from the ever-increasing concerns over crime within the vicinity of the university. Acknowledging the critical importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of students, faculty, staff, as well as businesses and residents in the University’s catchment areas, the UPSA Global Alumni Society took the initiative to address this pressing issue head-on.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, the esteemed Global Alumni President highlighted the alumni’s commitment to fostering a secure and nurturing environment for all members of the UPSA community. He emphasized that the construction of the police station represents a significant milestone in their ongoing efforts to contribute positively to the growth and development of their alma mater.
The new police station will be equipped with modern amenities and state-of-the-art technology to effectively combat crime and respond promptly to any emergencies that may arise. Additionally, the presence of law enforcement officers on campus is expected to act as a strong deterrent to potential criminal activities, further reinforcing the University’s commitment to safety.
The Chairman of the UPSA Governing Council, Dr. Kofi Ohene-Konadu, praised the collaborative efforts between the UPSA Global Alumni, UPSA and the Ghana Police Service, affirming that this initiative will not only bolster security but also enhance the overall educational experience for all stakeholders.
The construction of the police station also aligns with the UPSA’s vision to become a leading institution of higher learning known not only for academic excellence but also for being a safe and nurturing haven for its community. With the support of the Ghana Police Service, the UPSA Global Alumni are confident that this joint effort will yield fruitful results in curbing crime and making the university community a safer place for everyone.
